Ramlal Ray is an all-India survey trainer, working with the India Human Development Survey, Phase 3 (IHDS-3) project, at the National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER). He has a background in sociology and public health, focusing on the implementation of public and private health services in India. Currently, he is engaged in the field training of interviewers and supervisors in different States of India for IHDS-3. He also oversees the translation of questionnaires into various vernacular languages for IHDS-3. He has been involved in preparation of various project documents, including the Gender Action Plan (GAP), Social Monitoring Report (SMR), and District Health Action Plan (DHAP) for different State governments. He has an MPhil in Public Health from the Centre for Medicine and Community Health, School of Social Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi; and an MA in Sociology from Karnataka University, Dharwad, Karnataka.
